Our Organisation
PLP is supported by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. People Learn Productions (formerly Narkaling Inc) produces award winning high quality audio cassette book kits with slow speed narration for adults and children who are developing English language and literacy skills. We also produce our own Easy to Read ReadON print series for adult learners of English Literacy.
People Learn Productions is a non-profit organisation partially funded by the Australian Federal Department of Family, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs. PLP's vision is that 'all people have the right to read'.
Our audio kits differ from the usual audio book because: a copy of the printed book always accompanies the audio tape and eight slow narration speeds allow people the time to follow the print.
Level 0 - 40 wpm
Level 1 - 50 wpm
Level 2 - 60 wpm
Level 3 - 70 wpm
Level 4 - 80 wpm
Level 5 - 90 wpm
Level 6 - 100 to 110 wpm
Level 7 - 120 to 130 words per minute (wpm)
Standard Audio Books are read at 180-200 words per minute
